Diarrhea has broken out at Lumezi Boarding Secondary School, affecting 96 pupils and 15 households in Lumezi district of Eastern Province.
District Education Board Secretary Herbert Mwiinga confirmed the outbreak to Zambia National Information Service today.
Mwiinga said no death has so far been reported, following the outbreak of the disease in November.
“The affected pupils, who include this year’s Grade 12 school levers and 15 out of the 25 households at the learning institution, were at different occasions admitted and treated at Lumezi Mission Hospital,” said Mwiinga.
And acting Lundazi district health director, Dr. Muyinda Musamba said out of 96 reported cases, only six pupils were admitted to Lumezi hospital but later discharged after treatment.
