Police in Lusaka recover stolen items, commends public

Police in Lusaka have commended members of the public for a tip-off that led to the arrest of two suspects and recovery of goods stolen during separate aggravated robbery incidences that occurred in November.

Lusaka Province Police Commissioner Nelson Phiri said the two suspects whose names have been withheld led the police to the recoveries, which included two motor vehicles Toyota Mark X grey in color registration number BAE 3056 and a Mitsubishi junior Pajero registration number ALX 7205 the criminals attempted to change the colour.

“Two short guns(Pump Action) with no rounds of ammunition (one from Europa and the other one from Lake Petroleum)A set of brown sofa, Double Chest fridge, Electrical Stove, Music System, Two Fridges,Dinner Set, Yamaha Keyboard, Fan ,Two gas cylinders, two Plasma televisions, two Carpets. One Bicycle. Cash ZMK 149,500=00 and USD 3,100 (Stolen from Europa Casino).Two Speakers. One Mattress. One Genset.Two Masks which the criminals wore during the Aggravated Robberies and Eighty (80) pockets of cement,” said Phiri.

Phiri has since appealed to the general public at large to cooperate with the police as they continued with the investigations.

Criminals on November 25, 2018 at 05:00 hours staged a robbery at Europa casino on Kafue road in Lusaka and another one on November 1, 2018 at 01 00 hours at Lake Petroleum Filling Station on Great North Road, Lusaka.

Phiri has instructed all officers under Lusaka Division to deal decisively with all criminal elements during and after the festival season.
