Chief Justice Irene Mambilima has urged newly sworn in Small Claims Court commissioners to be impartial in executing their duties.

Justice Mambilima further asked the seven

commissioners to Judicial Act in order for justice to prevail.

She said this shortly after swearing in seven commissioners of the Small Claims Court at the Supreme Court this morning.

“To the new Commissioners, ensure that justice and reconciliation are on the center of your activities. When people affirm that justice has prevailed and are satisfied, that is the signal that you have achieved your duties diligently and always follow the Judicial Act No. 13 of 1999,’’ said justice Mabilima.

The seven include Markford Mandela, Ernest Chulu, Mwaka Ngoma, Milner Katolo, Morgan Mukwasa, Chituwa Mwamba and Mabai Kasase.

She implored the new officers to consult other serving commissioners whenever they faced challenges.

And Small Claims Court chairperson Sharpe Phiri disclosed that since its inception on June 8, 2009, the court had disposed of 22, 410 cases.
