Pardon political activists, Kalima asks Lungu
A governance activist in Mongu, Western Province has asked President Edgar Lungu to extend his prelogative of mercy to political activists.
In an interview, Kebby Kalima said prisons were still congested in the country even after Lungu released 300 inmates on this week.
Zambia celebrated 54 years of political independence on Wednesday, October 24.
He lamented that some inmates had stayed for too long in detention without trial.
‘’Political activists should have been among the 300 released inmates as they also deserve the gesture despite that the offence they committed is quite grave,’’ said Kalima.
