Teaching Council avoiding responsibilities-NAQEZ

National Action for Quality Education in Zambia (NAQEZ) is alarmed at the fact that the Teaching Council of Zambia (TCZ) is asking candidates to verify their certificates with the Examinations Council of Zambia before applying for teaching positions.
In a statement, deputy executive secretary Charles Mwelwa said the action by the TCZ had made it very expensive for poor people to apply.
He stated that most of them were travelling to Lusaka to have their certificates screened by the Examinations Council of Zambia, which was costly.
“We are calling for reverting to the old system where candidates only submitted their applications at their respective District Education Board Secretariats and then the TCZ got them for verification at the Examinations Council of Zambia,” stated Mwelwa.
“NAQEZ is not against verification of certificates but totally against this expensive process. Making an appeal to the TCZ to rescind this decision.’’
