Miner dies at Column Coal Mine

One person has died while three others survived at Column Coal Mine Industries Limited in Sinazongwe district, Southern Province.
As they were loading coal into trays underground, some rocks fell, with one of them hitting Levy Siamaili who died instantly.
Mine underground manager Elvis Ng’andu confirmed to Sinazongwe district commissioner Protacial Mulenga that the accident happened at about 16:30 hours on Tuesday at shaft six.
Ng’andu explained that Siamaili aged 25 year of Vwavwa village was killed by a rock that
dislodged from the roof of the tunnel and fell on him.
He said three other miners: Nelson Mansangu, Manuel Siachiyumu and Clement Siamaili survived.
Ngándu explained that operations at shaft six have since been halted and the site closed awaiting mine inspectors to determine the cause of the accident.
