Sinda District Education Board Secretary Feston Mtonga says most schools in the district have no clean and safe drinking water.

Speaking when Sinda District Commissioner Paradious Sakala addressed head teachers at the at Tiritonse School on Thursday, Mtonga said the water crisis compromised service delivery in the district.

He said often, pupils traveled long distances to fetch water because most schools have no boreholes.

“We appeal to your office, the district commissioner to report to relevant authorities and other well-wishers to help resolve the problem,” pleaded Mtonga.

And Sakala assured the head teachers that schools in the district would have more boreholes by December.
