Police detain thugs who ‘attacked’ protesting citizens

POLICE in Lusaka have arrested and detained seven men suspected to have been part of a mob that attacked people who turned up for the civil society-organised protest at Parliament on Friday September 28.
A handful of citizens responded to calls by a consortium of civil society groups to protest what they see as bad governance.
But as the protest took shape, the peaceful group including journalists and police was suddenly sent scampering when objects came flying their way, tossed by a group of men who had stopped their Spacio on Great East Road to carry out the attack.
With some wielding machetes, the group then quickly jumped back on their vehicle and sped off.
