Mulongoti considers contesting PF branch leadership position

FORMER Chingola mayor McDonald Mulongoti says he will consider contesting for a branch position during the ruling PF intra-party elections.
In a media statement, Mulongoti, a former Rainbow Party national youth chairperson, said humility should always subsist in order to strengthen a political party.
“Our going to the grassroots will, by and large, entail strengthening the party at the lower structures and we will be upbeat and forecast for the future as a party due to fortified structures. In my view, this sound decision is in the interest of effective party mobilisation. Humility must always subsist if we have to strengthen our party even if we may have served in higher positions before. As for me, I am likely to consider contesting at the branch level,” he said.
Mulongoti stated that according to the PF revised intra-party electoral regulations, “those of us who either joined or rejoined the party less than three years (ago) are only eligible to contest intra-party elections at section and branch levels.”
“We welcome such progressive electoral regulations because they are aimed at promoting loyalty within the party. In fact, old members will feel motivated and appreciated for their long service,” stated Mulongoti.
