RULING Patriotic Front (PF) has scooped the Kasenengwa parliamentary seat in an election marred with high levels of apathy.

Banda of the PF polled 10,346 votes to win the seat, followed by United Prosperous Peaceful Zambia (UPPZ) candidate Abel Ngwenya who polled 1,673 votes while People’s Alliance for Change (PAC) candidate John Zulu came third with 1,597 votes.

Returning Officer Noel Sichalwe declared Banda the winner of the Kasenengwa by-election early Friday.

A total of 13,796 votes were cast with 180 rejected ballot papers. The total number of registered voters as at 2016 are over 45,000, representing less than one third total turnout.

And Banda says he will prioritize working on roads, improving access to health facilities and water challenges.
