ANC withdraws Mama Sobukwe’s ‘official funeral’ after PAC chaos

The funeral of South Africa’s anti-apartheid icon Zondeni Sobukwe has been widely condemned following chaotic scenes which saw State officials pulling out of the programme and leaving the funeral.
Deputy President David Mabuza, set to deliver the eulogy, was whisked away by his security detail as members of the PAC, the party founded by Robert Sobukwe, refused to be addressed by ANC officials.
PAC members rejected the national flag, draped the coffin in the PAC flag and reportedly refused to recognise the national anthem.
