The Women’s Movement in Zambia says the obstruction charges levelled against Mutinta Mazoka M’membe by the state clearly shows the patriarchal malicious acts of the powers that be to intimidate women of integrity.
The Non-governmental Organisations Coordinating Council, in welcoming Mutinta’s acquittal by Lusaka magistrate Faides Hamaundu on Monday, applauded the court case outcome and pledged to continue with the struggle.
“Bravo another woman media proprietor has been acquitted by a legal court. Ms Mutinta Mazoka M’membe, proprietor of Oracle Media was accused of tearing in a police search warrant of her residential premises,” NGOCC stated in a brief press release. “The proprietor of Komboni Radio (Ms Lesa Kasoma) was equally acquitted when the police accused her of assaulting them when she went to reopen her radio station after the Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) had reinstated its operational rights. This clearly shows the patriarchal malicious acts of the powers be to intimidate women of integrity! Aluta continua!”
