CAZ urges farmers to increase cotton production

The Cotton Association of Zambia (CAZ) in Southern province has urged farmers to increase production of cotton as the current output is failing to meet demand on the market.
Regional Manager Ndila Mumba said there was need for other farmers to engage in cotton production in order to have the quantities required for local and export markets.
“We have observed that cotton has better market prices compared to other commodities, it has the potential to increase income for farmers,” Mumba said. “The buying price of the commodity per kilogramme is ranging between K3 and K4 and is profitable for producers”.
He indicated that the association will avail statistics of the actual produce at the end of this marketing season.
