Diplomats will not help you assume power – Malanji

By Staff Reporter

Foreign Affairs Minister Joseph Malanji says diplomats are not in Zambia to aid opposition parties to get into State House but help actualise development.

Speaking during a political dialogue meeting with the European Union diplomats accredited to Zambia in Lusaka, Malanji stated that members of the diplomatic Corp needed to be accorded the respect they deserved as they were in Zambia to enhance development.

“It is only important that you give the respect that the members of the diplomatic corp deserve in this country. Diplomats are in this country to bring development and that will only be in conjunction with the government of the day,” Said Malanji.

And Malanji has expressed happiness with what he termed progress achieved with projects financed by the EU.

And EU Ambassador to Zambia Alessandro Mariani said he was happy with the continuous political dialogue with Zambia where the last one was held in March last year.
